In order to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the city and other nearby entities with mutual aid agreements, there is hereby established the Fire Department of the city. Its mission shall be fire prevention and education and the preservation and protection of life, property and the environment against injury and damage from fires, hazardous materials incidents, natural and human made disasters and other incidents occurring within the city, mutual aid partners, and as directed by the City Council.
