§ 54.06 GEOTHERMAL HEATING SYSTEMS.
   (A)   Any pump and dump geothermal heating systems are required to be plumbed directly into the storm sewer system, or if permitted, a ditch system. To be plumbed into a storm sewer system, the property must be located directly adjacent to a storm sewer main. There will be a one-time fee to connect into the city’s system. This connection must be completed by a licensed contractor. Discharge into the storm sewer main shall not be permitted between the months of November 1 and March 31. Any discharge into the city’s storm water pond is strictly prohibited. Any discharge into a ditch system must receive prior written approval from the agency responsible for the ditch and anyone receiving approval
to discharge into the ditch shall accept sole responsibility for compliance with all federal, state and local regulations and shall be totally responsible for any erosion, sediment or any problems created by the discharge.
   (B)   (1)   Only food-grade or USP-grade propylene glycol may be used as a geothermal fluid. No other materials or additives may be used except for potable water.
      (2)   A permanent sign must be attached to the heat pump specifying that only approved heat transfer fluids must be used.
