§ 5-4-26 INTERPRETATION OF WORDS AND PHRASES.
   The following rules of construction and interpretation shall apply to the text of this ordinance:
   (A)   Words used in this ordinance shall have their customary meaning as defined in a standard dictionary, unless they are specifically defined in this ordinance.
   (B)   Words used in the present tense include the future tense. Singular words include the plural, and plural words include the singular.
   (C)   The word SHALL indicates a mandatory statement; the word MAY indicates a discretionary statement.
   (D)   The word LOT includes the word PLAT or PARCEL.
   (E)   The word STRUCTURE includes the word building, and the words building or structure include any part thereof.
   (F)   The word PERSON includes an individual, firm, association, organization, partnership, trust, company, corporation, or any other entity usually defined in legal usage as a person.
   (G)   The words USED or OCCUPIED , as applied to land or buildings, shall be construed to include the words intended, arranged, or designed to be used or occupied.
   (H)   The word CONTIGUOUS as applied to lots or districts shall be interpreted as meaning sharing a common boundary of ten (10) feet or more in length.
