§ 4-7-11 SUMMARY.
   (A)   The City of Dillon water system is implementing a Wellhead Protection Program for its wells and is submitting this Wellhead Protection plan for these wells. The area is in the coastal plain, and the wells were delineated by computer model.
   (B)   The wells are on small tracts of land– the one (1) outside the city is surrounded by some partially developed areas, including an airport, businesses, residences, and some agriculture. Three (3) known petroleum contamination sites are nearby. The wells inside the city are surrounded by heavy development and have a number of known petroleum contamination sites and one site with VOC contamination (volatile organic compounds) within the well delineation zones. The town is served by public sewer; a few houses use septic tanks.
   (C)   The management plan consists of public education efforts, a request to the county to have the management zone placed on planning maps, and a request for notification of permit applications within the zone. Public education initiatives will be conducted.
