§ 4-7-5 DELINEATION.
Based on information about the characteristics of the individual wells, pumping rate, and aquifer characteristics, a Wellhead Protection Area (WHPA) for each well was identified by hydrogeologists with SCDHEC Bureau of Water. The RESSQC module of the WHPA computer model was used. Each delineation is divided into three (3) zones that represent one (1) year, five (5) years, and (10) ten years Time of Travel (TOT) for contaminants. These zones are shown in Appendix B, which also shows two (2) known groundwater contamination sites. These delineation zones are the areas from which the wells are most likely to pull their water. In the event of a spill or other discharge within these zones, prompt cleanup, remediation or other intervention will be vital to prevent the substance from entering the wells.
