§ 34.32 EXTERNAL EMERGENCY/DISASTER PROCEDURES.
   (A)   General. In case of an external emergency/disaster or the threat of such an incident (i.e., a severe storm, tornado, hazardous materials incident or earthquake), the following procedures will be activated.
   (B)   Tornado.
      (1)   When the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for the county, the County E.M.A. will either announce or telephone that there is a warning. This will be the signal for county building occupants to “take cover”.
      (2)   If local authorities confirm sighting a tornado near the City of Clinton, the outdoor warning sirens will be activated. At this time, the office employees will begin to take safety precautions by doing the following (if time allows):
         (a)   Shut all windows;
         (b)   Alert the public that may be standing in the lobby of the front of the building that they should take cover in Courtroom B or in the east-west hallway toward the rear of the building;
         (c)   Office personnel employees should move away from windows and doors;
         (d)   Employees of the Circuit Clerk, Treasurer and County Clerk’s office can take cover in the vaults;
         (e)   Other employees may take cover in small closets or storeroom or under their workstations. Lie low with hands covering the back of the head to reduce neck and head injury; and
         (f)   After the storm, check the office for damage. Caution personnel leaving the building to watch for downed power lines.
