(A) It is recommended that all owners of improved residential, commercial, industrial and governmental (local, state and federal) properties shall post the respective site address numbers, as assigned by the county, in accordance with the provisions herein. All previous address numbers shall be removed in their entirety.
(B) The signs shall not be any longer than the area of address numbers with a maximum four-inch perimeter around the address numbers. The address numbers shall not be subject to the county’s sign regulations. No sign supports or any other item shall be erected within the road right-of-way without the express written permission of the respective highway authority.
(C) All address numbers shall be permanently affixed and shall be clearly visible from the road upon which the site has vehicle access, free of current and future temporary and permanent visual obstructions.
(D) Address numbers shall be posted upon planes that are perpendicular to the road upon which the site has vehicle access and the site address numbers shall be visible from both directions of travel upon the road.
(E) Address numbers shall be posted within 20 feet of the road right-of-way and within 20 feet of the vehicle access for the site.
(F) Address numbers shall be posted between 30 inches and 48 inches above grade.
(G) The minimum height of each address number digit shall be four inches and the maximum height of each address number digit shall be 12 inches.
(H) All numbers constituting an address number shall be uniform in height and style.
(I) All address number digits shall be whole Arabic numerals only. No fractions or decimals shall be allowed. They shall be devoid of serifs and other ornamentation as would cause illegibility. Script, Roman numerals and other forms of numbers shall not be acceptable.
(J) Address numbers shall be reflective, shall be white in color and shall be permanently affixed to a less reflective red background.
(K) Address numbers on mailboxes which do not meet the provisions herein shall not be sufficient address number identification to comply with this chapter.
(L) With subdivision of an addressed property (apartments, offices, suites and the like), each subdivision shall have its own address number identifier clearly and permanently affixed at or near its main entrance. All structures with multiple living or business subdivisions shall only be addressed using whole Arabic numbers. Structures which are subdivided into multiple business or living units shall be assigned and display individual whole Arabic address numbers for each subunit. The use of secondary addressing (i.e., “1/2”, front, rear, upper, lower, A, B, C and the like) is not allowed.
