§ 30.02 CHAIRPERSON.
   (A)   The County Board shall elect a Chairperson at the first meeting on the first Monday of December, the Chairperson to be elected from among the duly elected members of the Board as constituted by the terms of this subchapter, the Chairperson to be elected for a two-year term and to receive compensation on per diem basis for regular and special meetings and for committee meetings, and in addition thereto, to receive mileage allowance as fixed by statute or as is determined by the Board.
   (B)   All committees are appointed by the Chairperson with the approval of the other members of the Board.
   (C)   The Office of Chairperson becomes vacant when the officeholder:
      (1)   Resigns;
      (2)   Dies;
      (3)   Becomes legally disabled; or
      (4)   Moves from the county or district from which he or she was elected to the County Board.
   (D)   When a vacancy occurs, the County Board is obligated to elect one of its members to serve for the balance of the Chairperson’s unexpired term.
   (E)   The Chairperson shall preside at meetings. If absent, the Vice Chairperson shall preside. If both are absent, the members shall choose one of themselves as temporary Chairperson.
   (F)   (1)   The Chairperson of the County Board shall be paid a yearly salary of $5,000; in addition thereto, the Chairperson of the County Board shall receive:
         (a)   From 12-1-2012 through 11-30-2015: $71 per meeting.
         (b)   From 12-1-2015 through 1-30-2019: $80 per meeting.
         (c)   From 12-1-2019 through 11-30-2022: $87 per meeting.
         (d)   From 12-1-2022 through 11-30-2032: $87 per meeting.
      (2)    Further, the Chairperson of the County Board shall receive $0.25 per mile for travel on county business.
   (G)   The Chairperson may appoint a Parliamentarian, as provided by Robert’s Rules of Order.
