9-3-1: DEFINITIONS:
For the purposes of this chapter the following definitions shall apply:
FLOODPLAIN: The area adjacent to a watercourse which has been or may be intermittently included in the regulatory floodplain maps prepared by the IDNR/OWR for the administration of the floodplain regulations for the Des Plaines River watershed and its tributary watersheds; or in lieu of these maps, the flood insurance maps prepared by federal insurance administration.
MANMADE AND NATURAL WATERCOURSES: A natural or artificial channel of perceptible extent and depth, with definite bed and banks to confine and conduct continuously or periodically flowing water.
STORM SEWERS: A watercourse which carries storm and surface waters and drainage, but excludes sewage and polluted industrial wastes. (Ord. M-28-89, 8-7-1989; amd. 2002 Code)
