7-7-7: CITY PARKING LOTS AND FACILITIES; FEES; TIME LIMITS:
The following provisions apply to all parking lots or parking facilities owned or operated by the city:
   A.   It shall be unlawful for any person to park a vehicle in any parking lot or parking facility owned or operated by the city without first depositing the appropriate fare in the fare box or by monthly payment or lease payment to the city for the space occupied.
   B.   A person shall be entitled to park a vehicle in any of the aforesaid city parking lots or parking facilities for a period of twelve (12) hours for a daily fee of two dollars ($2.00).
   C.   It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle or to permit a vehicle to remain in any space in a parking lot or parking facility for a period longer than twelve (12) hours; however, the provisions of this section shall not apply on Sundays and legal holidays when vehicles may be parked without payment but the parking lines for each space shall be adhered to in such parking lot in the same manner as is required during other times.
   D.   The following provisions apply to the use of electric vehicle charging stations located within parking lots or parking facilities owned or operated by the city:
      1.   At the direction of the city council by resolution or ordinance duly adopted, the city manager, or his or her designee, shall have the authority to install and enforce signs restricting parking in certain parking spaces only by electric vehicles using an electric vehicle charging station.
      2.   No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in a parking space in violation of a sign restricting parking within the parking space only by electric vehicles using an electric vehicle charging station.
      3.   Any person who uses an electric vehicle charging station shall pay to the city a fee of fifty cents ($0.50) per hour of use.
      4.   Any person who violates any provision of this subsection D shall be fined in the amount provided in section 7-10-6 of this title. (Ord. M-9-14, 4-21-2014; amd. Ord. M-51-19, 12-16-2019)
