15-8-1: DEFINITIONS:
For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section:
COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS: All combustible gases included within the definition of "combustible gases" set forth in section 5 of the Illinois motor fuel tax law, 35 Illinois Compiled Statutes 505/5.
GALLON: As a liquid measurement, a gallon is equal to four (4) quarts or 3.785 liters. As a compressed natural gas measurement, a gallon is equal to: a) 126.67 cubic feet of natural gas at sixty degrees Fahrenheit (60°F) and one atmosphere of pressure, or b) alternatively, a quantity of compressed natural gas that weighs 5.66 pounds.
MOTOR FUEL: All volatile and inflammable liquids produced, blended, compounded or used for fueling and propelling motor vehicles, including gasoline, gasohol, diesel fuel, and compressed natural gas.
MOTOR FUEL RETAILER: Any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of selling motor fuel or compressed natural gas at retail, and not for resale. (Ord. M-2-16, 3-7-2016)
