The definitions contained in this chapter are as follows:
BOOKS OR RECORDS: Those books or records to be kept pursuant to this chapter, as may be subsequently amended from time to time.
CITY: The city of Des Plaines, Cook County, Illinois.
FINANCE DEPARTMENT: The office of the finance department of the city.
O'HARE CORRIDOR PRIVILEGE TAX AREA: The area bounded by a straight line extending Lunt Avenue from its intersection with Greco Avenue to its intersection with Mannheim Road, Mannheim Road from its intersection with Lunt Avenue to its intersection with Higgins Road, Higgins Road from Mannheim Road to its intersection with I-90, I-90 from its intersection with Higgins Road to its intersection with the rail lines located west of Willow Creek, and the rail line from its intersection with I-90 to the straight line drawn extending Lunt Avenue from Greco Avenue to Mannheim Road.
PERSON OR PERSONS: Any natural individual, firm, partnership, association, joint stock company, joint venture, public or private corporation, receiver, executor, trustee, syndicate, association, club, business trust, institution, agency, municipal corporation, district or other political subdivision, contractor, supplier, vendor, vendee, operator, user or owner, or any officer, agent, employee or other representative acting either for himself or for any other person in any capacity, any other entity recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties, or any other representative appointed by order of any court. The masculine, feminine, singular or plural is included in any circumstances.
VEHICLE: A self-propelled mechanism, such as a truck, machine, tractor, roller, derrick, crane, trencher, portable hoisting engine or automobile or any conveyance used for carrying persons or things. (Ord. M-19-13, 10-7-2013; amd. Ord. M-11-21, 9-20-2021)
