Many materials transported by ground and air vehicles are incompatible with each other and the environment of the aircraft. The research and special programs administration of the federal government has prepared voluminous regulations in an attempt to identify all of the hazards involved in the transportation of such materials (49 USC 5101-5127 contains the federal hazardous material transportation law). Flight personnel must be diligent in ascertaining the exact nature of materials presented for transportation by air, particularly in the case of liquids. (Ord. 960, 12-8-1997)
