8-2-5: DOG PARK RULES:
   A.   The Purpose And Scope: The purpose of this section is to establish a section outlining appropriate use of the dog parks located in Deming, New Mexico.
   B.   Rules And Regulations: Established for the health and well- being of the citizens of Deming and Luna County, and their pets that use the dog parks.
      1.   Each handler using the park is responsible for reading the rules of the dog park on first entering and abiding by said rules.
      2.   Enter at own risk. Handlers are responsible for their dogs, and injuries caused by them.
      3.   No dogs are allowed in the dog park without a handler.
      4.   No female dogs in heat, sick dogs and/or puppies under four (4) months old shall be brought into the dog park.
      5.   Dogs must be healthy, have current vaccinations and tags, and no contagious diseases.
      6.   A child between ten (10) and sixteen (16) years may enter the park only with a responsible adult. No child under age of ten (10) allowed in dog park.
      7.   Each dog brought into the park must be wearing current tags, or the handler must carry current vaccination and registration tags and the tags may be checked by any animal control or law enforcement authority.
      8.   Dogs are to be brought into the park on leashes and released inside the dog park, and put under the control of the leash again as they exit the dog park. No spike, choke, electric, or prong collars are allowed in the dog park.
      9.   Handlers are to remain in visual contact with their dogs in the park and are to have verbal control of their dogs at all times while in the park.
      10.   Handlers must clean up after their pet.
      11.   Aggressive dogs are not permitted. Dogs exhibiting aggression must be removed by their handlers immediately. In no event may a dog that has been designated as dangerous or vicious be brought into the park. Criminal penalties apply to bringing in a dangerous or vicious dog into City dog parks.
      12.   No food, alcohol, glass or smoking is allowed in the dog park.
      13.   No bicycles, baby carriages or strollers.
      14.   Small dog area is for dogs weighing thirty (30) pounds or less.
      15.   Dog park is not for watching sports.
      16.   Dog bites shall be reported immediately by the handler of the dog that bit and the report shall be made to the Deming Police Department Animal Control Division at 575-546-0354.
      17.   A handler is responsible for destruction caused by his or her dog, which includes the responsibility of filling in any holes the dog digs while in the park.
   C.   Penalties: Any person who violates any of the provisions of this section may be removed from park/privileges suspended/cited. (Ord. 1272, 7-9-2018)
