The planning and zoning commission shall have all powers granted to it by law and shall have authority to adopt subdivision regulations, to plat and adopt major street plans, and to adopt a master plan for the city and the area around the city within the platting and planning jurisdiction of the planning and zoning commission, and shall have the power, authority, jurisdiction and duty to enforce and carry out the provisions of law relating to zoning in the city.
