For the purpose of providing an equitable transition for the provisions of this Charter, the following provisions shall be observed:
(1) Mayor shall continue to serve the remainder of the current term which ends December 31, 2003.
(2) At the general election in 2001, the three Council candidates who receive the most votes will each serve a four (4) year term and the Council candidate who receives the next highest vote will serve a two (2) year term
(3) The Clerk-Treasurer shall continue in that capacity until the Clerk-Treasurer's current term expires or until the Clerk-Treasurer resigns, whichever occurs first. At that time the Finance Director shall be appointed as provided in this Charter.
