The individual elected to the office of Mayor under the general statutory plan of government for villages at the November 1999 regular municipal election shall continue to serve as Mayor under this Charter until December 31, 2003. If a vacancy occurs in the office of Mayor before December 31, 2003, the vacancy shall be filled as set forth herein if this Charter is in effect at the time of the vacancy.
The Mayor shall be elected by the voters of this municipality at municipal elections beginning in 2003, and every fourth year thereafter, for a term of four years. This term shall commence on the first day of January following each election.
