139.02 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (a)   The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council and shall continue in office until removed therefrom for the causes and under the powers and procedures provided for the removal of officers by Ohio R.C. 733.171.

   (b)   The Chief of Police shall be the peace officer of the Village and the executive head of the Police Department. The Chief of Police and the Deputy Chief of Police, police officers, the night watchman and special police officers under him shall have the powers conferred by law upon police officers in all villages of the State and such other powers not inconsistent with the nature of their offices as are conferred by ordinance.
