137.01 LEGAL COUNSEL.
   (a)   When it deems it necessary, Council may provide legal counsel for the Village, or for any department or official thereof, for a period not to exceed two years, and provide compensation for such counsel.
   (b)   Such employment of legal counsel may be terminated by the Village on thirty days’ notice.
   (c)   It shall be the duty of the Law Director to attend to all legal matters involving this Village, attend Council meetings when necessary, and to render legal opinions to Council and to the Mayor upon written request. (Ord. 675. Passed 1-20-58; Ord. 815. Passed 1-3-66.)
   (d)   The Law Director shall be paid annually, payable quarterly, which shall be his/her compensation for his/her attendance at Council meetings and for drawing routine ordinances and resolutions. For litigation and all court appearances; for appearances before other boards, commissions or governmental officials and agencies; or for the construction, acquisition and financing of public property or utilities, including all matters appertaining to an arising out of the same, the Law Director shall be paid for his/her services at the rates specified in his/her contract.
