(a) Gate valves shall be as manufactured by the M and H Valve and Fittings Company, Anniston, Alabama, Figure No. 67M in their Catalog No. 52, and shall be AWWA Class C, NRS, or an approved equal.
(b) Valves shall be furnished with an O-ring stuffing box incorporating two rubber O- ring seals. The upper ring shall be a dirt seal and the lower ring a pressure seal.
(c) All valves shall be furnished with a 2-inch square operating nut.
(d) All valves shall be built for 150 psi working pressure, and shall be shop-tested at 300 psi hydrostatic pressure.
(e) Valves shall be furnished with mechanical joint ends. Followers shall be one-piece cast iron, and bolts shall be cadmium plated.
(f) Each valve shall have a two-piece slip-type valve box similar to Catalog No. E2702 as manufactured by the M and H Valve and Fittings Company, or an approved equal.
(g) All valve stems shall be installed plumb, and shall be designed to open left or counterclockwise.
(h) All iron parts shall be painted before leaving the shop with two coats of acceptable high grade bituminous paint.
