(a) All private sewers which are hereafter constructed and which are designed to be connected to a public sanitary sewer or a public combination sewer shall be not less than six inches in diameter; shall be constructed of vitrified clay sewer pipe which meets ASTM standards C700 ES with a premium joint which meets ASTM standard C425; polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer pipe which meets ASTM standards D3034 with a standard dimension ratio less than 35 with an elastomeric gasket joint, or acrylonitrile-butadie-styrene (ABS) solid wall for six inches in diameter and ABS-truss for eight inches in diameter; or larger pipe which meets ASTM standard D2680 with a chemically welded type joint using a solid ABS coupling on the exterior; or of such other non-porous pipe material as shall be approved by the Superintendent of Wastewater Facilities, and shall have a fall or slope of not less than 1/8-inch per foot flowing to the public sewer or sewers six inches in diameter, or a fall or slope such that a cleansing velocity of 2.0 feet per second is created under the condition of flowing at a depth of one-half of the sewer's inside diameter.
(b) All pipes and joints shall be constructed with proper bedding, alignment, grade, backfilling, and other construction methods as specified by the Superintendent. All sewers shall be constructed so as to allow a maximum infiltration of 200 gallons per day per inch of pipe diameter per mile of length. All joints of vitrified clay pipe or between vitrified clay pipe, cast iron, PVC, or ABS type pipe shall be made with the proper fitting. Concrete joined connections are not allowed.
