(a) Water Main - A principal pipe in a system of pipes for conveying water, especially one installed underground
(b) Water line Laterals - is a service water line that is a lateral part or extension from the main line.
(c) Shut off valves - A valve is a device that regulates, directs or controls the flow of a fluid (gases, liquids, fluidized solids, or slurries) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways
(d) Fire Hydrants (Fire plug)- A device connected to a water main and provided with the necessary valves and outlet nozzles to which a fire hose may be attached. The primary purpose of a fire hydrant is to fight fires, but it is also used for washing down streets, filling water-tank trucks, and flushing out water mains.
(e) Water Meters- A device installed in a pipe under pressure for measuring and registering the quantity of water passing through.
(f) Service connection - The portion of the service line from the utility's water main to the curb stop at or adjacent to the street line or the customer's property line.
(g) Curb stop/curb valve - A shutoff valve attached to a water service line from a water main to a customer's premises, usually placed near the customer's property line. It may be operated by a valve key to start or stop flow to the water supply.
(h) Residential Consumer Unit is defined as the utility service provided to residential homes or commercial businesses that provide services in a residential capacity, such as mobile home courts, apartment buildings.
(i) Commercial/Industrial Consumer Unit is defined as the service provided to a business or industry under which the services are used for commercial consumption. A consumer unit may consist of multiple meters where joined together to service only one complex or structure.
