924.99 PENALTY.
   (a)   Civil Penalties. Any person who negligently violates any provision of this chapter or a discharge permit or an order issued under this chapter shall pay a civil penalty of not more than $10,000 for each violation. Each day or portion thereof during which such a violation occurs shall be considered a separate violation.
   (b)   Criminal Penalty. Any person who knowingly or recklessly violates any provision of this chapter, discharge permit or order under this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor of the first-degree and fined an amount not to exceed $5,000 for each violation or imprisoned for not more than 6 months or both. Each day, or portion thereof, when a violation occurs shall be considered a separate violation.
   (c)   Falsifying Information. Any person who knowingly makes any false statement, representation or certification in any application, record, report, plan or other document filed or required to be maintained pursuant to this chapter, or who falsifies, tampers with or knowingly renders inaccurate any monitoring device or method required under this chapter shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisoned for not more than six months.
