921.18 ADJUSTMENTS OF SEWER PORTION OF THE UTILITY BILL FOR LAWN WATERING AND POOL FILL-UPS.
   (a)   Lawn Watering Systems (irrigation systems)
      (1)   Any owner of any property whether it is residential, commercial or industrial who wishes to receive adjustments on the sewer portion of their utility bill shall be required to install a ¾" tap or larger (at the owners or developers cost) with a separate meter for the purpose of watering grass, sod and/or shrubbery (landscaping areas).

      (2)   There shall be a monthly service charge based on the current water rates. There will be no sewer service charged on this meter.
         (Ord. 2016-32. Passed 12-5-16.)
      (3)   This tap will also be required to have an approved back flow prevention device.
      (4)   If a residential, commercial or industrial owner no longer wishes to have this service, the meter will be removed and capped at the owners expense.
   (b)   Lawn Watering is defined as the event(s) when a property owner applies water to a lawn or landscaping with the purpose of establishing newly planted vegetation or sod, and the application of water to sustain a lawn throughout the year.
      (1)   Residential, Commercial and/or Industrial Property.
         A.   Any new or existing residential, commercial or industrial property being developed will be required to use a temporary meter in order to receive an adjustment for the sewer portion of the utility bill for lawn watering. This meter will be provided by the City and returned to the city upon completion of its use. There is no quarterly service charge but usage will be charged based on current water rates.
         B.   The property owner will be required to use a temporary meter that they can obtain from the Utility Office with a $50 deposit. The deposit will be refunded through the auditor's office upon return of the meter and verified that it is in good working condition.
         C.   The usage on the temporary meter will be subtracted from the permanent meter reading and the sewer portion will be calculated and adjusted accordingly.

         D.   The property owner shall be allowed to use the temporary meter for no more than 30 continuous days or the property owner will forfeit their deposit.

   (c)   Pool Fill Up.
      (1)   Residential Property.
         A.   A residential property owner will be required to use a temporary meter that they can obtain from the Utility Office with a $50 deposit. The deposit will be refunded through the auditor's office upon return of the meter and verified that it is in good working condition.
         B.   The usage on the temporary meter will be subtracted from the permanent meter reading and the sewer portion will be calculated and adjusted accordingly.

         C.   The property owner shall be allowed to use the temporary meter for no more than 7 continuous days or the property owner will forfeit their deposit.

   (d)   The Board of Control shall have all authority to approve sewer adjustments in compliance with the above noted sections.
