§ 30.05 REFLECTIVE SYMBOLS.
   (A)   Purpose. The purpose of this section is to protect emergency and Fire Department personnel in the event of a fire at a Class 1 and Class 2 structure which was constructed with advanced structural components.
   (B)   Definitions. For the purposes of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ADVANCED STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. Light weight I-joists or lightweight roof trusses that:
         (a)   Have less mass cross-sectional area than sawn lumber of equivalent proportions used in an equivalent application; and
         (b)   Are assembled from combustible or noncombustible materials, or both.
         (c)   The term does not include a structural assembly, joist, or truss that provides at least one hour of fire resistance when tested in accordance with the ASTM Standard E119.
   (C)   Reflective symbol. All structures constructed with advanced structural components after June 30, 2018, must have a reflective symbol affixed to each electrical meter serving the structure. The reflective symbol shall be in the form of a sticker, issued by the city, that states that the structure is constructed with advanced structural components.
   (D)   Violations of this section. Removal of a reflective symbol from an electrical meter, warning of the use of advanced structural components, is prohibited and a violation of this section unless such removal is authorized by the Building and Planning Department. Refusal by an owner of a structure to allow a reflective symbol to be affixed to the electrical meter of such structure, if required herein, is prohibited and a violation of this section.
   (E)   Voluntary compliance. The owner of any structure that was constructed with advanced structural components prior to the effective date of this section is requested to place the reflective symbol on the electrical meter serving the structure on a voluntary basis.
   (F)   Collection and notification of information. The Building and Planning Department shall comply with collection of information regarding the use of advanced structural components as required under I.C. 22-11-21 and shall notify the local Fire Department and emergency 911 call center of such use.
