(A) Fees shall be assessed and collected by the Decatur Police Department for vehicle title inspections and for the production of Department records as follows:
(1) A fee of $5 shall be charged by the Decatur Police Department per vehicle for the inspection of a certificate of title for a motor vehicle and certification of a correct VIN number, as required by law.
(2) Accident reports generated by the Decatur Police Department shall be obtained through the website, www.buycrash.com, at a cost of $12, of which $8 shall be paid to the Police Department.
(3) Upon proper request, production of a Department audio record, video record or a record of photos shall be provided on a digital disc at a cost of $10 per disc. Reproduction of a disc is permitted, but production by the Department is limited to the original.
(4) Upon proper request, paper copies of Department records shall be produced at 10 cents per page for black and white copies and 25 cents per page for color copies. Cost of postage or courier fees, if records are mailed or delivered by special delivery, shall also be charged and collected by the Department.
(B) Request for production of Decatur Police Department records shall be made upon a Department form available through the Department. Release of records shall not be made until fees charged for the production of such records and mailing or courier fees have been paid.
(C) A person or firm which pays a fee charged pursuant to this section shall be provided by the Decatur Police Department with a receipt for fees collected by the Department.
(D) Each fee collected pursuant to this section shall be remitted to the Clerk-Treasurer and deposited into the Local Law Enforcement Continuing Education Fund as required in §§ 33.086 and 33.087 of Chapter 33 of the Decatur Code of Ordinances of 2015, as Supplemented.
