6.08.030: CONFINEMENT; NOTICE TO OWNER; AUTHORITY TO SELL; REDEMPTION:
If the owner or person entitled to the possession of an animal within five (5) days from the time it is taken into custody does not pay the charges and take it away, it is lawful for the Chief of Police, having such animal in charge, to sell the animal at public auction, having given at least five (5) days' notice of the time and place of the sale by posting the same in five (5) public places in the Municipality; and a copy of the notice shall also be served upon the owner or possessor of any animal if known, at least five (5) days before the sale, but any such animal may be redeemed at any time before the sale by the payment to the officer or his assistant of the fees, expenses and charges provided for in section 6.08.020 of this chapter.
