6.04.090: IMPOUNDMENT; DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED, DANGEROUS OR RABID DOGS:
   A.   It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police of the City to keep all impounded dogs for a period of five (5) days after the posting of the notice of impounding. If at the expiration of such five (5) day period from the date of posting, the dog has not been redeemed by the owner, it may be destroyed or sold for a sum of money sufficient to discharge the costs and charges incurred by the City for impounding and keeping the dog together with the license fee for the current year, if unpaid, or for such lesser sum that the City may obtain on any such sale.
   B.   It is provided, however, that no dog which appears to be suffering from rabies nor any dog of fierce, dangerous or vicious propensities shall be released from the pound but shall be destroyed.
   C.   The buyer of any dog under the provisions of this section shall become the owner of the dog free from any claim or title of the original owner or harborer. (Ord. 180 § 9, 1968)
