6.04.070: IMPOUNDMENT; PROCEDURE:
   A.   It shall be the duty of every police officer of the City to take possession of any dog found running at large or that is unlicensed contrary to the provisions of this chapter and to impound such dog in the City pound or other suitable place; provided, that, if any fierce, dangerous or vicious dog found running at large, or unlicensed, cannot be safely taken up and impounded, such dog may be slain by any police officer.
   B.   The police officer so impounding any dog shall record a description of the dog in a book kept by the City for that purpose. If the name of the owner of the dog is known to the police officer impounding the dog, the name of the owner, and his address, if known to such officer, shall also be recorded in such book.
