(A) The city has determined an address and property numbering system is in the best interest of the citizens of the city, and will be useful and necessary in the formation of a 9-1-1 system in the county, and is useful in the location of persons for emergencies, ambulance service and fire protection service.
(B) Therefore, the numbering system is established and shall be maintained for all houses and businesses located inside the city limits.

Any homeowner or property owner shall place a number at least three inches tall above or beside the front door of the house or business. In the event a rural mailbox is used, the property owner shall also place a number at least one inch tall on both sides of the mailbox. If a rural box is not used and door numbers are not visible, property must be marked with a readily visible number not more than 50 feet from curb or roadside to identify the property to law enforcement and emergency personnel. In the event certain circumstances do not fit the above placement of numbers, contact the Police Department for instructions to comply. These numbers shall be in place on or before 11-1-1990.
