Beginning with the bills dated August 2021, the following garbage rates shall apply.
(A) A monthly garbage service fee shall be assessed to each housekeeping unit within the city limits at the following rates:
(1) Single-family residence: $21 per month;
(2) Apartment buildings: $21 per month per each housekeeping unit; and
(3) Head of household 65 years of age or older: $17 per month. In order to receive the reduced rate, the customer shall be required to make application for a refund to the City Clerk/Treasurer, and furnish such evidence as may be required. Refund requests will only be received from July 1 through July 30 of each year.
(B) This monthly service charge shall be added to, and become a part of, monthly bills mailed for water or sewer charges by the city water and sewer system, and shall be paid to the city water and sewer system as a part of the total bill.
(C) In case of multiple-units with only one water meter, the total number of housekeeping units at $21 per unit will be assessed on the bill for water and sewer charges, and the person in whose name the water meter is listed shall be responsible for the payment of the total charges.
(D) A 10% penalty shall be added to these fees not paid by the sixteenth of each month, and shall be considered delinquent if not paid by the sixteenth of each month.
(E) (1) Any service fees billed to residents not on metered water will be billed separately, but will still be collected by the City Water and Sewer Office, and shall carry the same 10% penalty.
(2) Collection of delinquencies in these accounts will be the responsibility of the city.
