1476.02 STANDARDS FOR DETECTORS; INSTALLATION.
   Each dwelling unit shall be provided with a minimum of one smoke detector capable of sensing visible or invisible products of combustion. The type of smoke alarm, device or system installed shall comply with the specifications of Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., or any other nationally recognized laboratory standards, and bear a label indicating that the detector has been so listed and approved. Such an alarm, device or system, when actuated, shall provide an alarm suitable to warn the occupants within the individual dwelling unit.
   The installation and maintenance of such alarm, device or system shall be in accordance with the requirements of the BOCA National Building Code, as adopted in Chapter 1420, except where otherwise superseded by this chapter.
   A minimum of one smoke detector shall be located in the immediate area of all sleeping quarters.
