(a) General Provisions. While in a park, no person shall:
(1) Cause an animal or a fowl to run at large;
(2) Bring, drive or lead an animal onto park property, except that a horse or other beast of burden or draft animal may be ridden by a person in charge thereof, or driven before a vehicle attached thereto, on such portions of park property as may be designated for riding or driving by the City Manager or his or her designee;
(3) Bring, drive, lead or carry a dog or other animal or pet which is unleashed, or upon a leash more than six feet in length, even though under the immediate control of a competent person, on or upon park property;
(4) Permit his or her dog or pet to enter a public building or to be upon a designated beach, except a trained and working leader dog;
(5) Cause or permit a horse or another animal to stand on park property, unless securely hitched or in charge of some competent person;
(6) Torture, ill-treat or neglect an animal or a fowl; or
(7) Hunt, trap, catch, wound, kill, treat cruelly or attempt to trap, catch, wound or kill a bird, animal or fish; molest or rob a nest of a bird or a lair, den or burrow of an animal in or upon any park land or waters administered by or under the jurisdiction of the City.
(b) Parks as Wildlife Sanctuaries. All parks of the City shall be wildlife sanctuaries and shall be treated as such by all users of the parks.
(c) Contraband. All game, animals, fowl, birds, fish and other aquatic life, hunted, killed, taken, destroyed, bought, sold, bartered or in a person's possession, contrary to this section, are hereby declared to be contraband and the same shall be subject to seizure and confiscation and shall be turned over to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for disposal. Any weapon or object carried or used by any person in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to seizure by the Police Department and disposed of according to law.
