§ 50.037 MEDICAL WASTE.
   Contaminated needles and other contaminated sharp objects shall be placed in medical waste containers that are puncture resistant, labeled or color-coded, and leakproof. All containers holding medical waste for disposal shall meet all federal, state, and local health and safety standards. All non-sharp wastes, such as bandages, shall be placed in containers which are closable and constructed to securely contain all contents and prevent leakage of fluids during handling, storage, transport, or shipping. Containers of non-sharp medical wastes shall be clearly labeled or color-coded in accordance with federal, state, and local health and safety standards.
