(A) The County Board of Commissioners now deems it to be in the best interest of the county and its citizens to establish a Local Advisory Council.
(B) The Board of Commissioners hereby establishes the Local Advisory Council of the county. The department will be controlled by five members known as the “Local Advisory Council”.
(C) The Board of County Commissioners of the county shall appoint all five of the members of the Local Advisory Council.
(D) The Council must include at least two representatives of the disabilities community or elderly voters.
(E) The County Commissioners are encouraged to appoint county residents with a variety of backgrounds, partisan affiliations and perspectives to serve on the Local Advisory Council.
(F) The term of the office of the members of the Local Advisory Council shall be for a term of three years, or until their replacements are appointed.
(G) The responsibilities of the Local Advisory Council will include the evaluation, approval and recommendation of any temporary or permanent improvements made to polling places in the county, as well as the approval necessary for relocation of polling places in order to comply with the accessibility standards as set forth in I.C. 3-11-8 and in compliance with state and federal law.
