§ 70.01 OVERWEIGHT/OVER-WIDTH VEHICLES.
   (A)   The County Highway Supervisor is hereby empowered to issue permits for the use of county roads by overweight vehicles.
   (B)   These overweight vehicles shall be excessive loads not corresponding to I.C. 9-20-1 et seq.
   (C)   The permit shall be issued at the discretion of the Highway Supervisor. That other traffic, bridge or highway will not be seriously damaged.
   (D)   The permit shall be issued for a single trip or for a definite period of time not exceeding 30 days.
   (E)   Before any permit shall be issued, the applicant shall satisfy the officer issuing the permit of his or her responsibility to respond to damages for any injury to the highway or bridge or furnish satisfactory bond or any other security to the satisfaction of the issuing officer.
   (F)   There shall be a permit fee of $.25 per mile of travel loaded or unloaded for all permits issued but in no case shall the fee be less than $10 nor more than $50.
   (G)   When any permit is issued by an issuing officer, it shall be submitted to the County Auditor for approval, and thereupon, the Auditor shall fix the fee to be paid and upon the payment of the fee, the Auditor shall validate the permit, and the fee shall be credited to the County Highway Department account.
   (H)   Every permit shall be carried in or on the vehicle or any other object to which it refers and shall be open to inspection by any peace officer.
   (I)   The person to whom the permit is issued shall not violate any terms or conditions of a special permit.
   (J)   The issuance of the special permit provided in this section shall not relieve the responsibility for damages to highways.
   (K)   Furthermore, no person shall move a load or vehicle no more than ten feet in width without having a vehicle in front and behind of the over-width vehicle with lights flashing, and the over-width vehicle shall not travel more than 20 mph.
