§ 33.17  FIRE PROTECTION FUND.
   (A)   A non-reverting Fire Protection Fund is established in and for the town, which Fund shall be funded with:
      (1)   Revenue from the billing of utility customers for fire protection, specifically for fire hydrant service;
      (2)   Such other monies as the Town Council may appropriate by ordinance from time to time; and
      (3)   Such other monies that the town may secure or apply from time to time for the purposes of the Fund, including any grants received for fire protection purposes.
   (B)   The purposes of the Fund are:
      (1)   Fire protection, including the capability for extinguishing any fires that might be reasonably expected in the town;
      (2)   Fire prevention, including identification and elimination of potential and actual sources of fire hazard; and
      (3)   Other purposes or functions related to fire protection and fire prevention.  All expenditures shall be in conformity with I.C. 8-1-2-103.
   (C)   The Clerk-Treasurer shall be the official who approves expenses from this Fund, and who signs claims from the Fund to be submitted to the Town Council for its review and approval, as any other claim from other funds subject to its jurisdiction.
   (D)   Interest earned on monies in the Fund shall be retained by the Fund.
