§ 153.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For purposes of this chapter the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings ascribed to them respectively.
   “COMMISSION or ELECTRICAL COMMISSION.” The Commission established and described in § 153.25.
   “DEPARTMENT.” The Danville Department of Community Development. When read in the context of enforcement authority or procedures, “DEPARTMENT” shall mean the director of the department or his assignee, and the Electrical Inspector.
   “ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.” Any person engaged in the business of installing or altering by contract electrical equipment for the utilization of electricity for light, heat, or power, not including radio apparatus or equipment for wireless reception of sounds or signals and not including apparatus, conductors, and other equipment installed for or by public and private utilities under the jurisdiction of the state commerce commission for use in operation as public utilities where the commerce commission has adopted rules that supersede this code.
   “ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.” Conductors and equipment installed for the utilization of electricity supplies for light, heat, or power, but not including radio apparatus or equipment for wireless reception of sounds or signals and not including apparatus, conductors, and other equipment installed for or by public utilities, including common carriers, which are under the jurisdiction of the state commerce commission for use in their operation as public utilities.
   “ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR.” The electrical inspector of the department working under the direction of the director of the department or his designee.
   “ELECTRICAL UPDATE WORK.” Updating generally means changing an electrical service, and/or adding new electrical circuits within an existing structure. Such work must conform to the NEC but shall not trigger a complete rewiring of the structure.
   “REWIRE.” Shall generally mean the pulling of old wiring and replacing it with new wire throughout most, or all, existing structure. Such work must conform to the NEC.
   “WORK,” “WIRING,” “APPARATUS,” or “DEVICE.” All details in connection with any attachment or any part of any similar things used in connection with electricity, either directly or indirectly.
