§ 100.63 CUTTING OR REMOVAL OF CURB.
   (A)   No existing curbing or curbing later placed along the public streets shall be cut or removed and no thoroughfare shall be established for vehicular traffic between places of business and the public streets over and across any public sidewalk at other than street and alley intersections or at thorough areas which now exist . On petition being filed with the Department, the cutting or removing of the curb and the use of or thorough are purposes may be allowed if necessary and if it will not materially interfere with the public health and safety.
   (B)   In no event shall curbing be cut or removed for a greater distance than 35 feet to permit ingress and egress into the premises, with the exception of industrial drives, which shall be as directed by the City Engineer. Curb cuts on S.B.I. routes shall conform to the state Department of Transportation regulations on ingress and egress drives, a copy of which is on file in the offices of the Department. In no event shall a thoroughfare for business purposes be established greater than 35 feet in width; except, that where more than one thoroughfare is desired into the same premises, the City Council may, at its discretion, grant permission for the use of more than one thorough are not exceeding 35 feet in width; provided not less than 12 feet of space is left for sidewalk purposes between any 2 thoroughfares opening on any street.
   (C)   In no event shall the corner of any street intersection be entirely removed but not less than 15 feet of sidewalk space and curbing shall be left on any corner of any intersection for the protection of pedestrian traffic.
