§ 100.46 TEMPORARY PATCHING.
   All excavations located in any street or improved alley, while awaiting permanent patching, shall be temporarily patched with a minimum of 8 inches of CA-6 stone and 2 inches of asphaltic “cold patch” material compacted into place. All excavations in streets or improved alleys shall be temporarily patched within 24 hours of backfilling the excavation unless otherwise approved by the City Engineer. Steel plates may be used for covering excavations for a period of 7 days upon approval of the Department of Public Works. Steel plates shall be secured in place with asphalt ramps having a minimum width of 6 inches. Temporary patches shall be maintained by the contractor until a permanent patch is installed. Permanent restorations shall be made within 30 days unless otherwise approved by the City Engineer.
