(A) There is created the position of fire/arson investigator.
(B) To qualify as a fire/arson investigator, persons so designated shall be required to have participated in and graduated from the law enforcement training for arson investigators conducted by the state and meet all requirements of ILCS Ch. 20, Act 2910, § 1 and shall be appointed by the Public Safety Director from existing officers.
(C) It shall be the responsibility of the fire/arson investigator to respond to the scene of fires of suspicious nature, fires where arson is suspected, fires where the cause cannot be readily determined, and to other fires or fire related incidents as required.
