§ 34.05 POLICE OFFICERS.
   (A)   The offices of police officer, patrolman, and police matron are abolished and there is created the office of police officer within the city.
   (B)   Appointments of police officers shall be made by the board of fire and police commissioners.
   (C)   The police officers, as well as the chief of police and all other officers, when on duty shall devote their entire time and attention to the discharge of the duties of their office. They shall observe all rules and regulations of the department as set up by the duly constituted authorities. They shall, to the best of their ability, preserve order, quiet, and peace throughout the city and shall enforce the laws of the state and ordinances of the city. When any police officer has knowledge that an offense has been committed, he shall make a complaint and procure evidence for the successful prosecution of the offender.
