(A) ILCS Ch. 65, Act 5, §§ 10-2.1-1 through 10-2.1-29, as amended, concerning a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, are hereby adopted by the City except as otherwise provided in this Chapter 33. To the extent that any of the provisions of this chapter conflict with the provisions of said statutes, then the provisions of this chapter shall control.
(B) It is hereby declared to be the policy of the City that no person shall be denied employment or promotion in the Fire and Police Divisions of the City on account of race, sex, religion, national origin, and any other suspect classification recognized by federal or state law. The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners established hereunder shall enforce this policy through the fair and equitable administration of the procedures and examination standards hereinafter set forth.
