The purpose of registering and tagging dogs and cats is for identification if the pet is lost, to prevent pets from being destroyed as stray, and for the safety of residents of the City by using the registration process as a way of tracking the location in the City of any vicious dogs as defined in Chapter 55 of this Code of Ordinances.
