All administrative staff (except the Police Chief, Deputy Police Chief, Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, the full-time and part-time Clerk/dispatchers hired prior to May 11, 2005), and full-time Service Department employees (except the Service Director) may request compensatory time off in lieu of overtime worked from the respective heads of their departments, subject to the following terms and conditions:
(a) The total cumulative compensatory time off logged for each employee shall not exceed eighty hours, at any one time, from January 1 to the last pay period of the then current year. The Administrative Accounting Assistant shall keep an account of each employee's total compensatory time accumulated and compensatory time used.
(b) When an employee requests compensatory time off from the department head in lieu of overtime worked, (the time is equal to time and one-half) the time worked may be credited to compensatory time off during the same pay period as it was earned.
(c) The compensatory time that is accumulated may be used by the employee at any time during the year upon the prior approval of the department head. The time must be scheduled so that it will not cost the Village overtime for the services of other employees.
(d) In no event shall any employee have the option of using more than eighty hours of compensatory time off per year. At year's end, an employee may roll over up to forty hours to the succeeding year, but must be paid at his or her regular rate of pay for all hours accumulated in excess of forty hours. An employee may also cash in up to forty hours of compensatory time during the calendar year with a written request provided to the employer in the pay period prior to the pay period the cash-in is desired.
