The law enforcement agency having jurisdiction within the corporate limits may designate marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections and at such other places as it may deem necessary. The law enforcement agency may establish safety zones as it may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians and may have lanes marked for traffic on street pavements at such places as it may deem advisable.
