(A) The Tree Commission shall serve solely in an advisory capacity to the Town Council.
(B) It shall be the responsibility of the Tree Commission to:
(1) Study, investigate, counsel, develop, and update annually, and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, re-planting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs along streets or alleys and in other public areas in the town, but not including any area under jurisdiction of the Park Board. The plan will be presented to the Town Council and upon its acceptance and approval shall constitute the official comprehensive tree plan for the town;
(2) Compile and maintain an inventory of all trees and tree spaces within the public streets. This inventory should record the location, species, size, condition, and planting and maintenance history of these trees;
(3) Assist the Town Council in formulating policies and practices of urban forestry as set forth in the provisions of this chapter and outlined in the Tree Care Manual;
(4) Promote public education on the proper selection, planting and care of trees;
(5) Assist the town in efforts to fund urban forestry projects through donations and grants;
(6) Promote public education on the proper selection, planting and care of trees;
(7) Consider, investigate, make findings and a report, and recommend upon any special matter or question coming within the scope of its authority as detailed in this chapter; and
(8) Cooperate with any other town department, board or agency, and any town department, board or agency or employee shall cooperate with the Town Tree Commission.
