If, in the opinion of the town Police Department or designated agent of the town, the market value of an abandoned vehicle or parts determined under § 94.05(B) is less than $500, the officer may immediately dispose of the vehicle to an automobile scrap yard. A copy of the abandoned vehicle report and photographs relating to the abandoned vehicle shall be forwarded to the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles. If trash or garbage removal must be accomplished either prior to removal or crushing, this will be coordinated with on call waste disposal contractors. The town shall retain the original records and photographs for at least two years.
