§ 130.08 BEEPERS AND TELEPHONE PAGING DEVICES.
   (A)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section the following definitions shall apply, unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      (1)   BEEPER or TELEPHONE PAGING DEVICE. A unit, instrument or electronic gadget that displays telephone calls or dialing, including items commonly known as "pagers."
      (2)   EMPLOYER. An entity duly registered, licensed or otherwise incorporated to do business in this city, the County of Sanilac or State of Michigan.
   (B)   Prohibition; exception.
      (1)   Except as otherwise provided, a person under 18 years of age shall not buy or possess a beeper or telephone paging device. Except as otherwise provided, a person shall not sell or give a beeper or telephone paging device to another person under 18 years of age.
      (2)   This section does not apply to a person under 18 years of age who exhibits to the police, or person providing the beeper or telephone paging device, the written consent of his or her employer, if the writing indicates that the beeper or telephone paging device is being carried and used by the juvenile in the course of his or her employment; or parent, indicating that the beeper or telephone paging device is being carried and used by the juvenile for bona fide medical reasons or emergency notification.
      (3)   Employer's or parent's written consent must be filed with the city Police Department.
