(A) It shall be unlawful for any person to have in his or her possession, within the city limits of the city, a loaded and unbroken firearm or a revolver or pistol of any description or shotgun or rifle which may be used for the explosion of cartridges or any air gun, b-b gun, or air rifles, either gas operated or spring gun, or any instrument, toy or weapon commonly known as a pea shooter, sling shot, or beanie, or any bow made for the purpose of throwing or projecting missiles of any kind by any means whatsoever, whether such instrument is called by any name set forth above or by any other name, except it shall be lawful to possess any of the above listed items within a residence within the city or while transporting such an item into or out of the city if the item is unloaded and broken down. Any loaded weapon of any type must be under the control and supervision of a person over the age of 21 who is of sound mental capacity and who possesses a valid license pursuant to KRS 237.110.
(B) It shall be unlawful to discharge a firearm, revolver or pistol of any description, or shotgun or rifle which may be used for the explosion of cartridges, or any air-gun, b-b gun, or air rifle, either gas operated or spring gun, or any instrument, toy or weapon commonly known as a pea shooter, sling shot, or beanie, or any bow made for the purpose of throwing or projecting missiles of any kind by any means whatsoever, whether such instrument is called by any name set forth above or by any other name, within the city limits of the city.
(C) The above prohibition shall not be construed to forbid United State Marshals, Sheriffs, Constables and their deputies and any regular special or ex officio police officers, or any other law enforcement officer from carrying or wearing, while on duty, such weapons as shall be necessary in the proper discharge of their duty.
(D) The above prohibition shall not be construed to forbid any resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky who has a valid license pursuant to KRS 237.110 from exercising all rights granted by this Commonwealth with the issuance of that license to that person while in the city limits.
(E) Any Public Safety and Law Enforcement Authority officer with jurisdiction within the city is hereby authorized and directed to confiscate and hold until such time as a court of competent jurisdiction can determine whether or not the item confiscated should be returned to the owner or confiscated by the state, any air rifles, air guns, b-b guns, or any other weapon of any description or by whatever name known, catapults, sling shots, or dangerous projectiles found in the possession of or used by any person within the limits of the city and in violation of this section.
